[She nods.] Two in fact. Ethan, he goes to my school, we knew each other in the past too.. I have memories of him. Well one so far.

But Fay, he has the one of me but I haven't had any for him. [Tilting her head, she still wonders on that but answers his question.] They're both really nice. Ethan's saved me a few times.

That's good. [ And if he ever meets them, he will refrain from destroying them completely. ] Kinda weird how some people have memories of people that don't remember them. That's definitely happened to me once.

I think it's kind of weird too. I'd never met him before I saw him on the network, but nothing. I've heard of some people getting them from just seeing people for the first time.

[Maybe she had seen him around town and she just didn't know? Resting her chin on her palms, she shrugged.]

I don't know. They're nice, that's all that matters.

[ Skyler nods. ] It's happened to me. You're pretty lucky, though. Not everyone in the world can be that nice. You could run into some real stinkers someday. [ He wrinkles his nose for emphasis, but laughs to himself. He honestly thinks she'll be fine ~~because he'll be around to watchdog the heck out of her B(~~ ]

[She's not psychic but she says pretty much what he's thinking.] That's what I have you for. To protect me right?

If you meet anyone mean, I'll help. Or you can come stay at my house. Or something. You don't have to deal with it alone.

[ Skyler grins with a breath of embarrassment. Was it that easy to tell? ] Ya caught me. Oh well...

[ ... The grin slips somewhat. Well... He does appreciate the offer. A lot! A whole lot, and he is very sure she means it, even if there was still suspicious parts in his head that whisper pity, pity at him. However... How does he tell her that most of the shit that he encounters is self-inflicted? That he kind of deserves the hurt coming at him? That he doesn't feel like he's safe enough to hang around? He knows she wants to protect him, but the way he's living his life means that probably, one day, someone would have to protect her from him. It's why he didn't go over to her place last night. At least Kotetsu's an adult, and a police officer on top of that. He can take care of himself. Holly... not as much.

... He shakes himself out of that line of thought. Geez, there's no way thinking about it would help him now! Besides, he'd make it up to her someday. He knows he'll try his hardest, anyway. For right now, he tries to laugh off the awkward pause he just made. ]

Right. If there's ever a pack of fluffy bunnies out for my head, I know who to call.

[You're not nearly as smooth as you think Mr Veracruz, that coupled with the fact that Holly is a lot more observant than people give her credit for, her smile falls a little. The sudden want to reach out and hug him almost consumes her, and had they not been in the middle of a Starbucks, with a table between them- she might have.

Taking a breath, she instead decides to ignore it. He doesn't want to talk about it, it's obvious by the way he moves on and tries to continue as if nothing happened but she noticed it and she'll go on wondering about it for days.

Laughing softly, she leans forward and pokes his shoulder.] They could be murderous bunnies, evil man eating ones! [She raises her hands, fingers making grasping movements as she tries to lighten the mood, to be the light she said she'd be for him.]

[ It's easier for him to continue on when he sees her smile, no matter how forced it might be. She's trying to be happy for his sake, and that makes all the difference in the world. He's going to make it up to her. He has to, for all of the shit he's pulled in the past, present, and future. He grins widely, taking her fork and finally taking a bite of her proffered cake. ]

Out to eat all of our heads. Save me, Holly Avalon, you're my only hope!

[Her laugh comes more easily this time, the image of these little killer bunnies chasing after Skyler is quite a sight in her head.

Smiling, she rests her chin on her hands as he eats some of the cake.]

I'll learn to be a fantastic witch just for you! Or I'll take up my brothers old lacrosse stick and defend you with it.

Yeah, it's not like Mike's using it for anything. [ He rolls his eyes, sticking the fork deeply into the cake. ] Hey, that's an idea - if you go out for a fight, just borrow his pads. I'll teach you how to body check people. You'll be invincible.

[Laughing, Holly shakes her head.] I don't think I'd do so well at body checking people. I'd probably just fall over with all the pads on. That's why I stuck with track and field, only my own two feet to give me trouble.

Really? No memories of Sakura punching a guy in the neck or anything? You never know, the potential could be there. [ Track and field requires a little coordination, too! He doesn't think she'd be all that clumsy! ]

No punching people, just fighting some sort of magical battle. I'm still not sure how that works though.

[She shrugs to show she's not that concerned with it. She's not going to be fighting some big battle or anything.]

Huh... [ He sticks another piece of the cake in his mouth and chews, putting the fork back onto the plate. ] You don't know? What, no magic words or anything? [ Because his magic is a no brainer. Seriously. ]

[Holly shakes her head, because really she has no clue.] I haven't gotten any memories on how to use whatever magic I have. Or had.

Really? Huh... [ He leans back in his chair, thinking for a moment. ] What do you remember from the magic fight? Were you using any?

[There's the smallest of shakes of her head.]

The only memory I have of maybe using them, she was really scared of losing her friends but she had to use them. It kind of worries me.

[She rubs her neck nervously, tapping at the skin there with her fingers.] But that's it. Maybe there's a incantation or something?

Maybe. [ Skyler scratches at his neck. When he uses magic, he just has to think about it - knowing the name of the spell helps, it helps trigger the feeling of the spell - but he's never needed anything like an incantation before. ]

Did you have anything besides the cards? And your friend? You weren't just, uh, waving your hands or anything, right?

I have a staff, it's pretty cute. A pink think with a star on it. [Well she should really call it a baton, it's not huge like wizards stave's in movies, but it's not the size of a wand like she was originally calling it. Who knows.]

She was using a staff, it was the same one I have now, but there weren't any cards or spells she said, just Yue and Kero talking to her and telling her it was going to be okay. Ethan knows a little bit about the cards but I don't think he has any memories of me using them.

[ A staff, huh... ]

Maybe you need a combination of them together? Like, the staff and one of those cards around and Kero. And... Yue? [ That isn't a name he's heard before. ]

Oh that's an idea. [One she probably should have managed to think of on her own if she wasn't still a little worried about the cards in general.]

Oh! Uh... Yue is an .. angel that helped her too. Ethan remembers him judging him- or us. I think it was us, but I have a memory of both Kero and Yue helping her, and being worried for her?

Okay this just sounds weird and confusing. [She rubs her face with her hands. Really how crazy can you sound?]

You should try that. And, uh... [ ... that does sound confusing. Skyler just waves that aside, though. ] Stuff must've happened. Sometimes I get two memories that don't make sense, but months later I'll get a different memory that explains it. [ And she would only have sounded crazy if Skyler hadn't gotten so many conflicting memories about the same topics. Sometimes about the same people. Sometimes about what those people look like, sometimes. It's weird, being Skyler. ]

I wish I knew. It'd make this all a lot easier. [Then maybe she could help Ethan out more and not just cower in a corner if trouble happened.

But she smiles instead of wallowing in her own troubles]

It'll get clearer. Either it's gonna get clearer because things happened because of reasons, or it never would have made sense anyway.

[ ... wait did he really help. he. doesn't feel like he did? ]

Finish your cake. I have to pick up chocolate for Ari and you're coming with me.

[You helped Skyler, feel proud.]

I'm going? [She takes the cake back to finish the last few pieces.] You know what Ari likes!
